Welcome! In this post, I want to share some work the amazing people enrolled in my year long workshop, Rituals, have produced. To learn more about how the class works and the themes we are exploring, read this post. You can register for the class here but only from June 25 to July 1st. I will be sharing a little bit about the context of each month but letting the work speak for itself. Some students prefered I not share their work outside of the Facebook group we have. Know that I pay special attention to this and that our group is a safe space for anyone who wants a smaller forum in which to share.
To start us off right, we are making a Wheel of the Year in which we state our intentions for the year to come.
January’s theme was New. For the Solar spread we invited in what we wanted more of in our lives and cast out what not longer served us for the Lunar spread. The technique was thread.
Unsurprisingly, February’s theme was love but we explored the idea of Selfless love and absence/presence of Self-love. We used charcoal as our technique.
March was a blast: we used intuitive painting to explore the theme of balance. It was sometimes hard to not get attached to the different layers we were creating and to trust the process.
The month of April was the start of a two month arc where we explored themes surrounding the idea of gardens growing and seeds being planted. April was all about Fertility and the technique was collage.
In May we explored the theme of Rebirth, to see what emerges from the seeds we planted in April. We had lots of fun making our own stencils of our faces!
June marks the halfway point! We are starting a new summer arc. The theme for June is Nourish and the technique is watersoluble media.
Thank you for coming by and looking at these incredible contributions that the artists enrolled in the Rituals class have made. I hope it invites you to check out the class. I am taking over the Get Messy Art Journal Instagram this week and I’ll be sharing more work from the class there as well.
You can find all the information here. Registration is open from June 25th to July 1st only.
