The first group activity after our arrival in San Miguel was to visit an abandonned hacienda. This beautiful place is at the root of the name of the workshop : it is slowly decaying. Some areas are unsafe. All of the rooms are sublime in their broken beauty. It was an immeasurable experience to be there. The photos don’t do it justice, but they are work sharing anyway.

The painted dome of the main entryway.

This is the silk tapestry that was the ceiling of the main bedroom.

This incredible mural was in the bathroom off the main bedroom. Isn’t she amazing?

 Orly dancing in the ruins!

The hacienda now houses a Mescal making factory, so did have to taste the local product before leaving.

This visit inspired us for the rest of the week. We carry the atmosphere of those abandoned rooms with us still.
