I made this concertina style booklet from Kellee Wynn’s tutorial on the Get Messy Art Journal private blog. I loved the process and I love the result as well. I decided to play with inks, watersolube Inktense crayons and my dip pen and add faces to this book.

I used a piece of Hahnemuhle paper as my base and it help up really nicely to all these layers. I added ephemera from my gelli print stash, notably some leaf prints I had done during the Season of Seasons.

I also followed Kellee’s cue and used some parchment paper and stencils. The parchement paper was not that great, the paint ended up being easily peelable. But I love how it is almost transparent when you add matte medium to glue it down though.

I can see myself making more of these, when I find more large pieces of watercolor paper. I will have to investigate the art stores here in Shanghai! Thanks for coming by. Did you ever make a booklet like this and what did you use it for?
