For my 100 Day Project this year, I decided to go back to what I love: using words and vintage images. I decided to work with the poetry of E. E. Cummings since his book has 100 poems.
I go through each poem and choose the lines that appeal to me the most. Then I pair them with one of my vintage photos from my collection. I also add a piece of Japanese washi paper (another type of paper that I have a lot of!).
I also add some watercolor and a drawing or quick sketch. I am obsessed with using pencil and leaving the lines apparent so I decided to apply this here.
I am having so much fun pairing all these elements together.
It so cool to see the new meaning that emerges from the juxtaposition of the words and of the images.
I am always interested in these old photographs and to be able to use them in this way makes me so happy.
When I find the perfect photo for the words, it feels really good!
A quarter of the way through I am still very very excited by this project. You can follow it on Instagram under the hashtag #100daysofvee.
